The 888 online poker network is one branch of 888 Holdings plc. A massive company who provide a vast range of gambling services. The network is run by an operating subsidiary known as Cassava Enterprises. 888 Holdings has been in existence since 1997, making it one of the world’s earliest providers of online gambling. They became famous for their online casino, but in 2002 launched the Pacific Poker client to cater to the rapidly expanding poker community. The company are licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and are listed on the FTSE250 stock exchange in London.

Following the success of Pacific Poker, six other rooms have been added to the 888 network. Although Pacific remains the flagship client, popular sites such as Littlewoods Poker and LuckyAcePoker also make their home on 888. The combined traffic counts make this network the 12th largest in the world, with daily peak averages of around 4,500 players.

Now known as 888PacificPoker, their original online poker software remains a popular choice for thousands of players. Thanks to regular software updates inspired by community requests, Pacific has managed to stay relevant in a fast moving industry. Their success also aided by a fast and efficient support service.

In 2006 the UIGEA forced many online poker companies to withdraw from the US. 888 elected to pull their network and no longer allow U.S. players to register. They have survived the drastic hit to their player base by diversifying. Along with the traditional download version for Windows operating systems, they now provide an in-browser instant play option for Mac and Linux users. In order to appeal the diverse European market, 888PacificPoker provides software in 20 different languages.

With a strong lead client a group of popular supporting skins, the 888 network remains one a solid option for any online poker player.
