Merge Gaming Poker Network
You may have encountered the Merge network in a previous life, if you played on Poker.com. Since 2005 the company have been providing online poker software to a large crowd of customers. In 2007, however, everything changed, and the firm decided to change focus from running a poker site to providing a network and software for other clients. Poker.com became a portal linking to other sites, and the newly named Merge Network began the process of farming out their online poker client to a number of new skins.
The resulting network now includes over 40 different poker sites, including the likes of CarbonPoker, G2GPoker, and TexasHoldem.com. The switch from poker site to network has served them well, as they now sit within the top 20 most popular online poker networks in the world. They have also benefitted as one of the few networks who have remained open to US customers following the UIGEA in 2006.
Their headquarters is in Australia, although their servers reside in the Kahnawake Mohawk territory in Canada. This is a hotspot for many online gaming companies, all of whom are licensed and regulated by the Kanhawake Gaming Commission. With their new streamlined client and state of the art safety procedures, the young Merge network looks set to continue its ascent.
Even though the Merge Gaming Network is one of the newest poker networks by name, it definitely isn’t new. By “merging” Poker.com with other sites and with plans of adding more skins, the old player base should drastically increase in numbers.
