PartyPoker Network
PartyPoker have long been one of the most recognizable online poker companies in the world. Since launching in 2001 they have become an iconic brand, providing online poker entertainment to millions of customers.
The company is owned and operated by PartyGaming Plc. Founded in 1997, the company reached the peak of their success in the midst of the poker boom. Culminating in a listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2005. Along with many other online gaming companies, they are licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar. They have locations all around the world, from their head office in Gibraltar all the way to a business outsourcing operation in Hyderabad, India. They are also one of the most global online poker providers, serving customers from over 170 different countries.
Party’s initial success was built upon the “skins” they allowed to use their network. Sites based on the PartyPoker network included Empire Poker, Intertops, Eurobet, and Multi Poker. However, in late 2005 PartyGaming made the decision to split with their partners, forming the new PartyPoker network while the skins remained on a separate PartyPoker Skins Network. The fallout from this operation involved consolidation and law suits. Eurobet left the network, while Intertops and Multi Poker were both purchased and integrated into PartyPoker. Empire Poker, one of the largest and most popular skins, brought a law suit that ended with them also being purchased and consumed into Party Poker.
Party’s reign as the most popular network came to an abrupt end following the passage of the UIGEA in 2006. This US law forced a number of online poker clients to close their doors to US customers. The loss of these players hit Party hard, but they have since regrouped and forged a large European customer base. They are currently the 4th largest network in the world, and the second largest of those who do not accept U.S. customers.
